History
In 1894 P. Aker B.V. was founded by the great-grandfather of the present
director, Mr. Peter F.M. Aker. Initially the company started with the production and distribution of flower and vegetable
seeds. As soon as the economical importance rose, P. Aker B.V. focussed
on the production of flowerbulbs, starting with Tulips, followed by Gladiolus and Iris. From about 1948 the export of these
products to different european countries started and in the 1950's also to the U.S.A., later followed by other countries.
In the late 1980's the flowerbulb-production was reduced to concentrate and specialise on the export of high quality
products. The last decade P.Aker B.V. has widened its market to Australia
and Asia.
